September Classes at Cagan Studio

I hope everyone is having a good holiday weekend.  I'm catching up on some paperwork for the SLAL and getting ready for this month's classes.  I will be teaching classes on the first and third week of the month.  For oils, it will be the 1st and 3rd Saturday, and for acrylics, it will be the 1st and 3rd Wednesday.

Acrylic, Wednesday, Sept. 7th 1:00 - 3:00 pm      Oil, Saturday, Sept. 10th  10:00 - 12:00 noon
The first week of the month we will be painting the Black Stallion on the beach in both the acrylic and the oil classes.  If you bring your own supplies, you will need to basecoat your 11 X 14 canvas board (or stretched canvas) with black gesso or craft paint.  It needs to be dry for us to transfer the pattern and attach the horse 'mask'.   You will be learning how to paint the ocean and a small wave.

Acrylic, Wednesday, Sept. 21st 1:00 - 3:00 pm Oil, Saturday, Sept. 24th 10:00 - 12:00 noon
The third week of the month we will paint the Aruba Palm Beach painting.  It is a wonderful little palm tree that is growing right at the edge of the sparkling turquoise water in Aruba.   No basecoating needed for this painting.    11 x 14 canvas.

Also, the Holiday Portrait workshop (the Santa Claus face), will be on Saturday and Sunday, October 29 & 30. Cost is $150 for the 2-day workshop (members get a discount fee - $135) If you've always wanted to paint portraits, this is the way to start. On the first day, you will learn how to get your image onto the canvas, then do the underpainting with darks and lights and the background color. On the 2nd day, you will add color, learning to blend the highlights and shadows to make the face have depth, and add details. All materials are provided.

Please remember to pre-register for class.  I need to know how many canvases, brushes, etc. to bring to class.  If you don't let me know you will be there, you may not have the supplies to paint with.

Also, here's a chance to sign up for a free online painting lesson.  Check out this website:
